Transforming Being: Waterloo Festival short story competition

London SE1 website team

The Waterloo Festival returns this June with a lineup of thought-provoking arts, heritage and community events ... and there's still time to enter this year's short story competition.

St John's Waterloo

The Waterloo Festival – based at St John's Waterloo – takes place each June and the 2019 theme is 'Transforming Being'.

For the second year, the festival is collaborating with Bridge House Publishing to run a writing competition, with the winners getting the opportunity to have their work published or read out at the festival.

Submissions of previously unpublished stories of up to 1,000 words – in prose or monologue style – can be submitted until 28 February.

Details of how to enter the competition are at www.waterloofestival.com/competition

The 16 winning entries from the 2018 writing competition are available as a Kindle ebook.

Become a festival friend or patron

This year's Waterloo Festival runs from 5 to 23 June.

The programme will be announced in April, but you can get involved early by becoming a Festival Friend or Patron.

£35 gets you advance ticket bookings, an invitation to the launch party on 5 June and the Festival brochure posted to your door.

Become a Patron (£250) and you will also receive two tickets for every ticketed event. The programme includes concerts, exhibitions, talks, workshops and unique experiences.
