During the school summer holidays rail operator Southeastern has introduced a daily seaside special train from Elephant & Castle to the Kent Coast.

Elephant & Castle Railway Station: your starting point for a summer day out at the seaside

On weekday mornings until Friday 28 August, a special train will leave Elephant & Castle Railway Station at 9.57am bound for Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham, Rainham, Sittingbourne, Faversham, Whitstable, Herne Bay, Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate.

There is no equivalent London-bound special train so passengers must return on scheduled services to Waterloo East or Charing Cross.

Southeastern managing director David Statham said: "There is a huge choice of really wonderful places to visit across south east London, Kent and East Sussex.

"By putting on extra trains and discounting many off-peak tickets bought online we want to help people get out and about and really enjoy this summer."

Full details of the extra trains are available on the Southeastern website.
