A Southwark man who sexually assaulted five women during one weekend has been jailed.

Dorian Bell, aged 32, pleaded guilty at Inner London Crown Court to one count of attempted rape, four counts of sexual assault and one count of possession of a knife.

All the offences took place between Saturday 18 March and Sunday 19 March this year.

On Friday he appeared before Inner London Crown Court in Newington Causeway where he was sentenced to eight years imprisonment plus a further five years on licence and placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.

The first assault took place at approximately 4am on the Saturday on the St Saviour's Estate in Abbey Street. The second was at 4.50am at the junction of Falmouth Road and New Kent Road.

The other three offences were on Sunday. One took place at 4.45pm in Beckway Street SE17 and another an hour later in Walworth Road.

At 11.40pm the defendant grabbed a woman walking down John Ruskin Street SE5 and dragged her into an alleyway.

"Dorian Bell is an extremely dangerous and disturbed sexual predator who has complete disregard for his victims and the impact his actions have had on their lives," said DC Robert Jamieson of the Metropolitan Police Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command.

"He sexually assaulted five females in a series of attacks over one weekend, one of whom was subjected to a horrific knifepoint attack.

"I would like thank the victims and acknowledge their courage throughout this investigation. Due to the overwhelming forensic and CCTV evidence, Bell had no option other than to plead guilty.

"The sentence handed to Bell reflects the gravity of the offences and the effect that his actions have had on the victims since the attacks."
