A 20-year-old man is in a critical condition in a south London hospital after he was found with stab wounds in Tabard Street on Thursday night.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman told the London SE1 website that the emergency services were called to Tabard Street, close to Tabard Gardens, at 8.55pm on Thursday evening.

A man, believed to be aged 20, was taken to hospital with stab wounds.

His condition is described as critical.

The spokesman said that three men – aged 27, 30 and 30 – have been arrested and remain in custody.

Police cordons around the scene remained in place for much of Friday.

The incident will revive painful memories of the murder in 2008 of local teenager David Idowu which took place nearby.
