Journey planning app Citymapper has extended its experimental hybrid bus/taxi service SmartRide to Waterloo.

Citymapper bring bus-taxi hybrid SmartRide to Waterloo

The service – which uses licensed private hire vehicles picking up at fixed stops in a defined network – currently operates on weekdays from 12 noon to 8pm.

The SmartRide network – which is expanding regularly – currently stretches west to Paddington and east to the Square Mile, and south to Waterloo.

SmartRide's Waterloo pick-up point is in Exton Street, near St John's Waterloo.

Citymapper is currently offering SmartRide journeys for just £1, undercutting TfL's £1.50 bus fare by a third.

The Citymapper company has its headquarters at Cargo Works in Hatfields on the South Bank.

Last May Citymapper ran a 'pop-up' demand-responsive minibus service – CMX1 – on a loop via Waterloo Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge.
